Social Allowance
Social allowances are being imposed twice a year (in autumn and in spring) and are payed monthly respectively for 5 and 7 months. The size of allowance is 390 litas (113 euros). To receive social allowance student has to register in the website os State Studies‘ Foundation, identifying himself through electroning banking or systems of electronic signature.
The registration takes place from September 15th till October 10th for autumn semester and from January 20th till February 20th for spring semester.
This sort of allowances is imposed according to the social welfare, therefore, student applying for an allowance has to fit one of the criterias:
- student has to be from the family, which, according to Lithuanian Republic Law of Monetary Social Support for Needy Families and Lone living Persons, gets or has a right to get social allowance;
- student has 45% or lower working capacity;
- student is under 25 and he has been granted custody according to the Laws of Lithuanian Republic or is a complete orphan..
Students, who can not apply for this sort of allowance:
- students who study in non government-funded places or students who study for their second degree (in another study programme);
- students who have temporarily suspended their studies or are in the academic leave;
- students who have not passed two or more exams.
If a student has been given a social allowance, but during the paying period student goes into an academic leave, suspends or quits his studies, payment will be determined.
